For attendees that aren’t obsessed with trains, we offer a program of non-rail activities.
Schedule of Activities
The official dates, times, and speaker information are on the Agenda; look for the Non-rail Activities track.
Monday afternoon – We’ll be playing Bingo. $0.25 per card.
Tuesday morning – Jeweler’s presentation, Fabulous or Fabulously Faux? Curious about that piece of jewelry Aunt Sophie left you that’s been in the jewelry box ever since? Mr. Koko Bedrossian will be speaking about jewelry in general and is willing to look at two to three pieces of jewelry per person, not for appraisal, but to determine if a piece is real or wonderful costume jewelry.
Tuesday afternoon – Birdwatching presentation, Backyard Birds and Beyond. Beth Jorgensen will be discussing both familiar and unfamiliar birds. She will also be sharing photos from her birdwatching travels around the USA, Canada, and farther afield.
Wednesday morning – We hope to have a speaker from Project Linus to discuss the organization and its mission.
Wednesday evening – We are fortunate to have folk singer Matt Watroba coming to provide entertainment. Join us for an hour’s entertainment!
Thursday morning – Financial Planning for Women. This is not a sales presentation, but is designed to help women understand their finances and how to plan for the future.
Thursday afternoon – One Time Only Book Club. Like to read? Join us for a One Time Only Book Club meeting to discuss The Briar Club by Kate Quinn (available on Amazon). Read the book while traveling and review the questions we’ll be discussing this afternoon (discussion questions are attached to this item on the Agenda).
“Washington, DC, 1950. Everyone keeps to themselves at Briarwood House, a down-at-the-heels all-female boardinghouse in the heart of the nation’s capital where secrets hide behind white picket fences. But when the lovely, mysterious widow Grace March moves into the attic room, she draws her oddball collection of neighbors into unlikely friendship.”
Friday morning – Landscape Painting. Do you paint? Do you have dreams about learning to paint? Mr. Logan will be demonstrating techniques for the beginner as well as the more advanced artist. He will show some quick tips on how to make your landscape painting look finished regardless of your skill level. This is a demonstration and talk, not a hands-on presentation.
Friday afternoon – We’ll be playing Bingo. $0.25 per card.
